INJURY: Jon Duplantier Out With Biceps Tendinitis
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitching prospect Jon Duplantier has been was shelved with biceps tendinitis on Wednesday. Duplantier struggled with his velocity in his last start for the AA Jackson Generals, and an MRI revealed inflammation but no structural damage. Duplantier, 23, rose quickly up the prospect ranks after a breakout performance in 2017. This year, he’s been very good in the AA Southern League, posting a 3-1 record in 7 starts with a 2.52 ERA (2.91 FIP). Obviously, a biceps issue is a cause for major concern with a pitching prospect. However, the Diamondbacks have said Duplantier is only day-to-day and they aren’t concerned about any long-term damage at this point.
