Welcome to the July 29th installment of The Daily Farm Report! We rake the news for each organization’s top prospects and give you a digest with some commentary for you greedy prospectors to enjoy. Here’s some recent news and highlights:

Eloy Jimenez
STATS and RANKINGS
WhiteSox #1 by MLB Pipeline
Baseball Farm Roto #110 Overall
Chicago White Sox Top Prospect OF Eloy Jimenez in enjoying an 7 game hitting streak @KnightsBaseball. Over that span: 15/26, .577, 4-2B, 3 HR, 7 RBI. #FutureStudski #FreeEloy
— Prospect Fiend (@ProspectFiend) July 28, 2018
White Sox GM Rick Hahn said earlier this week that Eloy had yet to ‘check all the boxes’ that he needs to for a call-up to the bigs. Not sure exactly what else Eloy needs to do here. Regular White Sox outfielders Nicky Delmonico (0.2 WAR) and Adam Engel (-0.2 WAR) must be aware of some boxes that Eloy doesn’t have access to.

Reid Humphreys
STATS and RANKINGS
Rockies #14 by MLB Pipeline
After laying waste to Advanced A hitters in the California League, former Mississippi State P/OF Reid Humphreys has been promoted to Class AA Hartford (Rockies)…he was 2-0 with a 1.83 earned run average and 22 saves (23 chances) at Lancaster…struck out 51 in 34.1 innings
— Mike Nemeth (@MikeNemeth) July 28, 2018
Definitely not going crazy over a Colorado Rockies relief pitching prospect, but Humphreys has been very impressive this year. 2016’s 7th round pick posted a 2.35 FIP in 35 appearances in the A-Advanced Carolina League this season.

Domingo Acevedo
STATS and RANKINGS
Yankees #5 by MLB Pipeline
No. 5 Yankees prospect Domingo Acevedo exits start for Thunder with injury https://t.co/EDucgZvUBl
— Manny Stevenson (@MercerCoNJ) July 29, 2018
Acevedo was noticeably uncomfortable after throwing a pitch in the 5th inning of his start on Saturday night. Trenton Thunder manager Jay Bell said that Acevedo felt “something in his bicep” when he was removed. No new info yet, but obviously a long-term injury would be a terrible blow to Acevedo, who also missed six weeks of the season with blister issues. It’s been a rough season for the Yankees #5 overall prospect.

Daulton Varsho
STATS and RANKINGS
Diamondbacks #5 by MLB Pipeline
Baseball Farm Roto #36 Overall
Diamondbacks C prospect Daulton Varsho began a rehab assignment for the AZL Diamondbacks tonight.
The catcher has been sidelined for more than a month with a fractured hamate. π¨π¨π¨
— Prospects 365 (@Prospects365) July 29, 2018
Varsho has been out of action for over a month with a hamate fracture. However, he still sits at #36 overall using our weighted roto scoring method. Varsho’s had a nice offensive season so far and provides intriguing value for fantasy owners even if he moves out from behind the plate at some juncture. His name has also been thrown around in some trade rumors over the past week or so, so don’t be surprised if we see Varsho moved as part of a package deal as the Diamondbacks make a push for the NL West title as well as a wildcard playoff spot.

Adam Plutko
STATS and RANKINGS
Unranked by MLB Pipeline
Basesball Farm Roto #75 Overall
ππβΎοΈ PRIME SPORT ALERT Re-Tweet dkliveππβΎοΈ "MLB INJURY ALERT: Indians OF Tyler Naquin (hip) has been placed on the 10-day DL. RHP Adam Plutko has been recalled. Analysis: https://t.co/NkUdXaDS13 pic.twitter.com/x8YKgPgf9M"
— DFS Prime Lineups (@DFSPrimeLineups) July 29, 2018
Plutko has been untouchable at AAA this season (5-3, 1.83 ERA, 0.68 WHIP), but has struggled in 8 MLB outings (6 GS, 4.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). He’s getting another shot at helping the Indians down the stretch, and if he can reign in the walks and home runs he might give the team some value down the road. Don’t plan on Plutko saving your dynasty team’s season though.
