Before the season got rolling in mid-May, the Pulaski Yankees and the Danville Braves made an announcement that they are teaming up to raise funds for cancer research.
After comments made by the Yankees Senior Vice President and General Manager calling the Yankees a “fully-operational death star” and referring to the team’s “Evil Empire” nickname, Pulaski players will be suiting up in specialty storm trooper jerseys for the two contests.
After the games are over, the specialty jerseys will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Relay for Life as part of the Pulaski Yankees’ new partnership with the American Cancer Society.
While the Pulaski Yankees will be representing the Evil Empire, the Danville Braves will be their counterparts, representing the rebellion with specialty Han Solo jerseys. These jerseys will be auctioned to in support of the Danville Cancer Association and the Centra Foundation.
If you can’t make it to the game on Friday, June 28, that’s okay. Danville will hold their own Star Wars Night on Friday, July 19, against Pulaski.
First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
