Patient hitter with advanced approach, track record of hitting and big time raw power that should eventually translate into games.

Initially drafted as a shortstop in 2016, Jones lack of foot speed has solidly moved him to the hot corner, but make no mistake, Jones is a plus athlete. His calling card is big time raw power, fantastic plate discipline and a big time arm at third.

At the plate, Jones offsets some swing and miss by drawing a ton of walks. While there is the possibility of Jones being a three outcomes type hitter, he has the ceiling to have a plus hit tool if you factor in approach; though he still has a ways to go to reach said ceiling. Jones is just now starting to utilize his 65 grade raw power and could be a 60 real life power guy in his prime. He has 30-35 home run type upside at third base. The catch however, is that Jones is a true platoon bat currently. The lefty has struggled mightily against same-handed arms in 2019, batting below .160 with little to no power output. Luckily he mashes righties and they are the big side of the platoon. Still a cause for concern.

Defensively, Jones is limited by his well below average footspeed, but has the instincts and athleticism to play well at third base, where his cannon arm will play up. Overall, Jones has the looks of a guy who can hold his own at the hot corner with big power/OBP upside and should hit in the meat of the lineup against righties.
